Summary of Initiative:

The proposed citizen initiative would create two new public school districts by dissolving the current Boulder Valley School District RE2 (hereafter referred to as BVSD) to form two independent districts.

Shall there be created two new public school districts by dividing the current BVSD into two smaller school districts in order to provide better educational opportunities for school age children residing within the larger geographic area of the BVSD, pursuant to the School District Organization Act of 1992, .R.S., (22-30-102, et seq.) which shall include, without limitation, all public neighborhood schools, charter schools (including any pending charter schools affected by BVSD's charter school moratorium), focus schools, neighborhood focus schools, hereinafter created voucher schools, trade schools, professional schools, special educational schools, preparatory schools, unoccupied school facilities, school sites, on-line and home educational programs, state and federally mandated programs and all disposed of assets under the ownership or control of the BVSD, and shall the boundaries of the new school districts, as listed below, be geographically defined by the current BVSD attendance areas, as of June 12, 2008 as located in Boulder, Gilpin and Broomfield counties, all within the State of Colorado?
